Born on March 1st 1958 in Lausanne, Bertrand is a swiss psychiatrist and aeronaut. Along with the british pilot Brian Jones, he completed the first world tour in a hot-air balloon (March 1st to 21st 1999) in the Breitling Orbiter 3. He also co-developped and flew the solar plane Solar Impulse, with which he completed a round-the-world tour from March 2015 to July 2016. He is the son of the oceanographer Jacques Piccard, and physicist August Piccard’s grandson.
Kiteboarding has been one of his passions for some time. He enjoys spending time with his family kiteboarding on the water, and enjoying nature all together.
