Originally from Sdot Yam, Israel, Gal Zukerman has been living her entire life around the sea and has always been passionate about sailing sports. She is now on top of the game as she is on her way to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games! A perspective that assuredly over-motivates her. While she trains hard with very specific goals in mind for this year, the most important thing for her is to keep having fun.

The story of her beginnings in kiting is very inspiring.

“I have always wanted to kite since I was a child, but my parents did not allow me to do so because my mother was afraid. I was sailing from the time I was 5 years old until I was 16, but then I decided it was enough. As soon as I stopped sailing, we went on vacation to Greece where I finally learned how to kite. At that moment, I realized how much I loved that sport.
We came back home and a few months later, the covid crisis hit. I was really lucky to have the sea in my permitted area, and we had the best conditions ever. I got to kite almost every day!
The Kitefoil racing discipline started a year earlier in Israel, and the team’s coach wanted me to start foiling, but I wasn’t interested at that time. After a lot of talking, I yielded and gave it a try at a beginner kitefoil camp.
And the first time I foiled was a mind-blowing experience for me, to just fly above the water in silence. Even though I didn’t have a lot of speed, I immediately fell in love with that sport!”

For her, kitefoiling feels like dancing on the water due to the high speed and the silence. In the past year, she has been racing with some Boom V2 and she feels like she can push herself beyond her limits. It has now become her favorite product thanks to its amazing performances. She also really enjoys the Spirit for some fun sessions with her twin tip.
